architect work space
Artisan Retreat is the work space of our own architectural practice.
This is a listed building, which has been completely renovated using traditional contruction crafts and techniques, with all modern facilities concealed within its structure. The building layout places a collaborative work space in the center of the first floor, with spaces around it for one of the Partners and design personnel. The ground floor houses administration and design spaces, centered around a lobby which is the main entrance to the building. The lobby, with its antique objects and collections leads to the garden which is an assortment of private garden rooms, each suited for discussions between associates, clients and friends.
Artisan Retreat is close to being a carbon neutral building. Built of plinth 100 years ago and oriented properly, Artisan Retreat also benefits from the microclimate of the garden (which creates an 8 degree difference in temperature between the garden and the street next to it). Our inhouse weather station produces data for approximately 160 variables. If you are interested to read more about this topic, please read the article
